Day 8
Cigarette Count: 9-12
Stress Level: 7
Just a bit over a week already and trying to quit is becoming quite the task. To help, I picked up some nicotine gum which I will be starting in the morning. I have tried nicotine patches in the past, but they irritated my skin and made me sick, so hopefully the gum will be a good solution.
Daily Advice: Nicotine withdrawal is no fun.. I'm having hot flashes and my sleeping patterns are all messed up. Try to avoid these symptoms by pacing yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Long, Long Nights
Day 7
Cigarette Count: 8-10
Stress Level: 7
I stayed up all night and went to sleep around 10 AM and woke up at around 3 PM. I then got to go to Ikea and Steak n' Shake, which was the highlight of my day. When we got back home, I went back to sleep and woke up about an hour ago.
I'm becoming more tired and losing energy.
Daily Advice: Only surround yourself with good people.

Dish Water
Day 6
Cigarette Count: 10-15
Stress Level: 7
I got to meet the most under-qualified repairman at 8 AM and that's how I started my day. No cigarettes, no coffee, no sleep, just my tired self and a jackass who didn't have a clue. After the longest hour of my life, though, he left, and I went back to sleep after taking care of my beautiful pets.
The morning kind of ruined my day, but at least I'm in good company with a friend sitting next to me on my couch.
Daily Advice: Never get a dish washer... it's not worth the pain of having a repairman with no experience and an attitude coming in.

Day 5
Cigarette Count: 10-13
Stress Level: 4-5
Woke up right before noon, and spent the day with my lovely kittens and tortoise and watched many, many movies. The stress didn't come in until I opened up my laptop and had received messages from my ex who is being extremely think-skulled and immature. I have my fingers crossed, hoping that he will either back down or grow a pair.
Daily Advice: If you're pissed about something, rant with an accent (I prefer British). It helps get the anger out, and it's quite entertaining to speak in another voice!
Cheerio!

Down the Road
Day 4
Cigarette Count: 10-13
Stress Level: 5-6
It was a very long day as my lovely boyfriend had to leave for work and he will be gone for about a month. Thankfully, though, we both have phones and we can send many photos and videos to each other.
Rory, the love of my life, is the main reason why I want to quit smoking, and he has been a tremendous help during this journey. He makes me smile and laugh, and he comforts me when I need someone to hold me. Rory is a truly amazing man and I am beyond honored to call him my boyfriend.
Daily Advice: Think about one person in your life who would do anything for you, and keep that person in your heart and mind when life gets tough; they will always be your rock.

9 to 5
Day 3
Cigarette Count: 14
Stress Level (1-10): 6
Today I went and volunteered at my mother's office. I encountered everything from endless paperwork to very interesting residents with extremely funny complaints! I got to spend the entire day with my beautiful mother and we had a lot of laughs! :)
So all together, today was a good day, and it was very much needed! But now, I must retire to Skype and spend the night with my wonderful and amazing boyfriend before he leaves for work in the morning.
Daily Advice: Being in an environment that you can't smoke is actually not as hard as it seems, you just have to stay busy!

Roller Coaster
Day 2
Cigarette Count: 20+
Stress Level (1-10): 5-9
Well, today had its highs and lows. Let's go through the day from top to bottom...
In the morning, I woke up around 11:30 AM and fed my two beautiful kittens and got my little tortoise fresh water. I took a nice, long shower and then headed back upstairs and spent a few hours on Youtube. Around 1:30 PM, I got dressed and headed into town to get my nails done, ran into a good friend, and grabbed some coffee. I got home around 4:00 PM and took a nap with my amazing boyfriend, and woke up close to 6:00 PM.
(This is where everything takes a turn)
A couple hours later, I headed to therapy and had good session which ended in bad news, which I'm not going into on here. This news had a domino effect on the rest of my night, and now I sit here talking with my boyfriend and eating eggplant parmigiana while writing this post.
This day was one of those days where I should have stayed in bed; too many tears were shed and not enough laughs were had.
Daily Advice: If something happens that makes you sad or scared, take the situation, embrace it, and then take all of your energy and put it to good use on something that you love.
